Smart Street Parties are on again!

For those of you that missed out the last Smart Street Party held in November, now’s your chance to join in the fun as the Smart Street Mall comes alive with activity this coming Friday for the second in this series of four twilight events.

From 5pm dozens of market stalls selling a huge variety of art, crafts, designer goods and vintage wares will fill the mall.  Smart Street retailers will also be open creating an excellent Christmas shopping opportunity.

Buskers will be playing from 5pm while you browse the stalls and shops then grab a bite to eat. Street food vendors will add to the choices available from the mall food businesses.

To add to the excitement, visit the Stretch Arts Festival team to help them to create an ephemeral wearable art sculpture, grab a fun Polaroid souvenir from the dress-up "photo-booth", relax in the games area, have your portrait drawn by an artist or take your children to the Love to Read tent for a special twilight story-time session.
Then kick off your shoes and dance the night away to the smooth voices of ‘The Merindas’ as they perform classic songs from the Motown era from 7pm.

This free community event suitable for all ages is on Friday 6th December, 5-9pm in Smart Street Mall, Mandurah.  The Smart Street Parties are a 'From Little Things' initiative, presented by Community Solutions in partnership with the City of Mandurah.

Mandurah came to the party!

Friday November 8th was a beautiful Spring evening and Mandurah people came out in droves to enjoy the first of the Smart Street Parties.

Local musicians Brodie Trebley and Iain Parker entertained the crowds of market shoppers from 5-7pm.  Bustling food stalls were at one end of Smart Street Mall with an eclectic mix of art, crafts, vintage wares and children's goods for sale at the other end of the street.

From 7-9pm local swing band That's Jazz brought the street alive with their fabulous sounds.  People of all ages took to the dance floor provided by Simply Swing Dance School who even gave the crowd a dance lesson during the band's break.
Many thanks to Viva Life Photography for capturing these wonderful photos of our November 8th Smart Street Party. Viva's Mandurah studio is at 133 Mandurah Terrace, Mandurah, ph 95868482, email
Let Viva capture your most precious moments forever.

Our next event is on Friday December 6th from 5-9pm.  For a sneak peek at the fabulous ladies who will be entertaining the crowd from 7pm look here.  Excited!

Arty inspiration

White lily by Emma Blyth - oil on canvas 120 x 80cm
There are two galleries and an art framers in Smart Street Mall and these businesses have inspired the arty element of our events. These businesses will all be open during the Smart Street Parties.

Emma Blyth is a Mandurah artist who paints in oils and acrylics. Her paintings express a passion for colour and a unique sense of translating our culture to canvas. The Western Australian landscape has inspired Emma to utilise large brushstrokes and vibrant colours to portray scenes from the rugged Kimberley to the beautiful beaches of the south-west.

The beautiful, original, oil on canvas pictured above is 'White lily'.  Emma plans to get a few more new pieces finished for next Friday so don't miss this chance to pop in and see her latest works.

Emma Blyth Gallery is at 9 Smart Street Mall, Mandurah.

Christian Fletcher is a landscape photographer who lives in Dunsborough in the south-west. His photographs of Western Australia have gained much popularity and recognition as fine depictions of this diverse state. No stranger to travel, Christian has traversed much of the Australian coastal region and beyond, always on the lookout for the next image.

Christian Fletcher Gallery is also at 9 Smart Street Mall, Mandurah.

Terrace Art Framers are committed to supporting the local and regional arts scene. They are sponsors of the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre and they offer wholesale prices to artists and photographers for framing and printing. We have been working with the team from Terrace Art Framers and the All for the Mall retailers committee to create the Smart Street Parties. We recommend you visit Terrace Art Framers for friendly, professional service and let them treat you to a delightful framing experience.

Terrace Art Framers are at 9 Smart Street Mall, Mandurah.

First-in, first-served at the Suitcase Market

Stall sites at the Suitcase Market are allocated on a first in, first-served basis and at only $5 each they are going faster than... dodgy old vinyl collections!

To book a stall (or four) download the form from here and send it back to us quick-as-you-can.

We can't wait to see what tempting goods stallholders bring in their suitcases.  Maybe I'll find the one Herb Alpert record I don't already own...

Children can be stallholders too

Children can be stallholders at the Suitcase Market too.  This is a great way for children to earn some extra pocket money.

Book your stall, clean out your toy box (or get crafty), then pack your goods into a suitcase and set up shop at the Smart Street Parties.  You need to be all ready to start selling by 5pm on the day but you don't have to keep you stall until the end of the event; just sell for as long as you like then pack up and whenever you are ready.

You are welcome to share a stall or book a group of stalls with you family, friends or club members.  Your suitcase can be any size and each stall costs $5.
